Toshio evened his breathing and was immediately calmed at her touch. Her soft skin against his was always like a sedative to him- it could knock him out almost instantly. He dropped his hand to her waist her and stared into her eyes. When she rested her head on his chest he rested his cheek on the top of her head. The smell of her orange hair flooded his nostrils, and it smelled divine. That was the only thing that seemed different about her- her smell. She didn’t smell like her old house anymore, more like her current residence, and she smelled of fancy soaps and perfumes. She didn’t need it. Toshio thought she smelled fine just the way she was. ”Thank you,” she whispered ”I don’t think anyone’s ever told me anything like that. You have no idea what it means to me.” She said, and Toshio felt a tear run down his face. It was terrible how he could let all of this happen to her. He blamed himself for everything- the accident child, the horrible husband, the other accidental child, and her heartache now. He could feel her pain, and he always could. He believed that they were in fact connected somehow, because it was odd how much he knew about her without even asking or even looking at her for that matter. He could just feel it. And now, she needed some coffee. ”You wanna get some coffee or something?” he asked, smiling down at her. He knew that she loved coffee, and she loved to just sit in the coffee shop and smell all of the different aromas that filled the room. She always said that it was her safe haven, and she could forget about everything when she was drinking coffee.

Sachi took a few deep breaths before squeezing him even tighter, ’God I could really use a coffee,’ she thought before meeting his eyes as he smiled down at her, “You wanna get some coffee or something?” he asked and she couldn’t help but giggle. He’d always known exactly what she was thinking or feeling, he been able to do it pretty much since they met. She could do the same with him, just another reason that they always you to say that they were destined for each other. They could say one word to one another and instantly they would know if one of them was sad or angry.
She stood on her tippy-toes and kissed his lips lightly, ”Yeah I’d really like that,” she smiled and she took his hand and led them out of the bandstand and through the now dark park. She’d never been a fan of being out at night so she removed her hand from his and pulled his arm over her shoulders, burrowing herself into his shoulder as they walked towards a small cafe nearby. She inhaled deeply with her pressed against his shirt and she couldn’t help but feel totally relaxed, ’He smells the same,’ she thought smiling to herself. She truly did love his scent, she always used to love it when they slept together and her pillows smelt like him in the morning, she used to remember shoving her face into the pillow, just trying to completely drown herself in his scent.
As they approached the cafe door, walking past Toshio as he held the door open for her, smiling in thanks she pulled him over to a incredibly comfy looking couch in the corner before sitting down and curling her legs up under her and closing her eyes, just letting her senses become overwhelmed with the amazing smell of freshly ground coffee.

Toshio smiled as Sachi burrowed into his shoulder. He tightened his grip on her and looked around the park for any other people. He knew how much she didnt like to be out in the dark, so he kept a watchful eye out. He never really understood her fear, and he didnt think that she did either; it was just one of those things that a person is born with and never gets over. When they finally reached the cafe, he held the door open for her and felt the rush of cold air flood out of the little building and sent a shiver through his body. He followed her to a nice comfy little llveseat in the back of the cafe. Toshio sat down and for once let her rest her head in his lap as she curled up. He ran his thick fingers through her hair and imagined what it would be like to have her as his own- forever. As a few moments passed, he looked down at her and smiled. "Can i get you something?" he asked, his voice reverberrating off his own ears and sounding like a waiter. He frowned, but then smiled. It would make him the happiest man alive to just be her slave.

As Sachi rested her head on Toshio’s lap she felt him run his large fingers through her orange hair, she was so relaxed she was almost purring.
“Can I get you something?” She opened her eyes when she heard him speak, looking straight up into his sparkling eyes as he smiled down at her. She was lost in those eyes when she whispered back, ”Just you” before blinking a few times and realising that he meant coffee. Her face reddened with a blush before she sat up so that Toshio could move, although she had to admit to herself that she really would rather stay curled up with him forever.
”A cup of tea would be amazing, thank you Toshio” she smiled before leaning over and giving him a probably-too-passionate-for-a-public-place kiss, but she just couldn’t help herself. Sitting there with him she couldn’t help but feel like a teenager again, she just wished that things were as easy now as when they were first dating. Then the only worries that had to think about were getting in to their college of choice, no children, no husbands and no sneaking around.
Having bought the drinks Sachi watched as Toshio made his way back towards her with two cups in hand, she smiled in thanks as he handed her the tea before taking a sip and closing her eyes with the warm cup heating her hands. Although she loved the smell of coffee she rarely drank it, only when she was feeling exceptionally tired and needed the pick-me-up. She remembered that Toshio always used to laugh at her; she was a huge fan of the smell of coffee or the taste of it in cakes but not to drink it.
Sachi watched as Toshio took a sip of his drink, smiling as she watched his Adam’s apple bob in his neck. Smiling at him she reached over and touched his thigh with her small hand, ”So...what have you been up too for the past seventeen years? I know you said you struggled with jobs,” she couldn’t help but feel bad about that ”But how did you get into teaching?” She couldn’t remember ever hearing him say he was going to be a teacher when they were in school.

Toshio laughed at Sachi. She could be so oblivious sometimes to these kinds of things- but only these kinds of things. She was the smartest girl Toshio had ever known, and it seemed like nothing had changed. He got up even though he didn’t want to leave her side and he bought a hot cup of tea for her and a large cappuccino for himself. He’d never really been a coffee drinker until he started his teaching job. He needed to work all day with little sleep, and the coffee helped him out with that. He sat back down and handed her her tea and sighed, holding her by the waist with his free hand.
”So...what have you been up too for the past seventeen years? I know you said you struggled with jobs,” she said, and Toshio had to give a chuckle. ”But how did you get into teaching?” she asked, looking up at him with those big innocent jade eyes. Toshio sighed, not really knowing where to begin. ”Well, a couple of years after I was living on my own I decided to go to college so I could get myself a real job. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, and I didn’t have any special skills, so I had to really reach to get an idea. But one day when I went up to the college to apply and I noticed a group of high school kids that were touring the campus. It reminded me of when we were teenagers and in high school, and I just got the idea of being a teacher. So, I went to college to study for a few years, and I had originally planned on being a high school teacher, but there weren’t any jobs available at the time, so I started working at the Junior High. I hated it! The kids were so immature and barely even teenagers, when I wanted to teach young adults without having to go through all of the shit to become a college professor. So, when a job opened up for a Literature teacher at the high school, I was the first to apply and I got the job,” he recounted, a small smile on his face remembering. Every day he walked in the hallways of that school, he reminisced about the old days when he and his friends didn’t have any plans for their life and had nothing to worry about; they really didn’t know what they were getting into!

Sachi had to laughed at Toshio’s description of Junior High kids; she couldn’t help but wonder what he’d have been like as a father to Rai. She was sure he’d have been great; a picture of Toshio was a small pink bundle in his arms as he beamed down at the baby with dark hair. She really wished that he’d have been there for Rai growing up, all the times Rai asked about where her Daddy was she wished she’d been able to tell her without bursting into tears when her back was turned, as Rai grew up Sachi noticed that she asked less and less about her birth father and Sachi had to admit that she was grateful for that.
”Maybe it was fate,” she said quietly, looking deep into his eyes, ”Maybe you were meant to get the job as the Literature teacher, maybe you were meant to meet Rai, maybe we were meant to be together.” she whispered leaning closer to him ”We were always so good together, Toshio” she started to gently stroke his thigh moving her fingers in small circles high and higher up his leg, ”Do you remember how amazing we were together? It’s like we were made for each other. We always used to say that we were soul-mates.”

”Maybe it was fate,” he heard her say quietly, and he glanced over at her. ”Maybe you were meant to get the job as the Literature teacher, maybe you were meant to meet Rai, maybe we were meant to be together.” Toshio smiled at the thought. He had never been a sucker for fate or destiny, or any of that bullshit, but hearing it come from Sachi it seemed almost real enough to touch. ”We were always so good together, Toshio” she started to gently stroke his thigh moving her fingers in small circles high and higher up his leg, and he placed his hand over hers. ”Do you remember oh amazing we were together? It’s like we were made for each other. We always used to say that we were soul-mates.” She said, a look of remembrance on her face. She was right. They were always told by random people on the streets- even by their parents- that they looked perfect for each other. In a way, they would just nod and thank them, but they would look at each other afterwards and smile, knowing that it was the truth. Toshio’s small smile turned into a frown as he deeply regretted not being there for Sachi or Rai. Right then he made a silent oath to himself that he would never leave her again. ”Well…” he paused, not wanting to ruin the moment. He looked away from Sachi and let go of her hand, folding them in his lap. He sighed. ”What are you gonna do now, Sachi?” he asked, not really wanting to put pressure on her, but he really needed to know for himself. He would stick with her throughout this whole process and do whatever it took to get her back in his arms again. He would stand up to Tadahiro and confess his love for his wife if it came down to it! He would bond with Rai and be like a real father to her! Speaking of which, how was Sachi going to explain this to Rai? Was she even going to tell her? What would Rai do once she found out that her Literature teacher- who she was always in trouble with and who called her parents for it- was her real father?! These questions flooded his head and he had to rub his temples to calm himself. He wanted to be the only man in Sachi’s life, and he didn’t care what it took, he would do anything.

”Well…” Sachi watched as he paused, clearly not wanting to ruin the moment but needing to talk. He looked away from her and let go of her hand. ”What are you gonna do now, Sachi?” he asked as she carried on looking at him. She so desperately wanted to look way, wanting to pretend that none of their past was real and that they were just a new couple out on a date not a married woman and her ex-lover sneaking around behind her husband’s back,
”I...I don’t know if I can divorce him, Toshio” she whispered knowing it was the complete opposite of what he wanted to hear, it was the complete opposite of what she wanted to say but she couldn’t leave him, Tadahiro had been there for her when no one else was and she had to stay with him. She couldn’t tell him about Toshio but she couldn’t just divorce him with no reason, he would know something was up.
”I love you, you know that and I want to be with you. I want you to spend some time with Rai when I tell her that you’re her father. I want us to be happy Toshio but what could I say to Tadahiro? If you knew about you he might hurt you and I couldn’t take that risk,” she could feel the tears prickling at her eyes but she refused to let them fall. And then she saw the look in his eyes and she’d made her decision, she had to leave him she wanted to be happy, she deserved to be happy. ”Can...can you give me time?” she asked ”When I get home I’ll talk to Tadahiro, I’ll tell him that it’s not working and that maybe we should take a break,”

”I...I don’t know if I can divorce him, Toshio” she whispered, and Toshio’s heart broke into a million tiny shards that fell into a black whole created by his body. He had lost all feeling in his body, and he couldn’t think, just listen. ”I love you, you know that and I want to be with you. I want you to spend some time with Rai when I tell her that you’re her father. I want us to be happy Toshio but what could I say to Tadahiro? If you knew about you he might hurt you and I couldn’t take that risk,” she informed him, but he didn’t understand. He knew that it was a big risk, and definitely dangerous for him, but he would take that risk in a heartbeat to have Sachi back. He would hurt Tadahiro if he had to, maybe even kill him. Of course, these were the thoughts of a man who had just lost his heart to a woman he’d thought to be the one for him. They were reactions to her words, not actual thoughts. ”When I get home I’ll talk to Tadahiro, I’ll tell him that it’s not working and that maybe we should take a break,” she said, and he still refused to look at her, to see her fragile face in this lighting, peering up at him with those big green eyes. The mother of his child, shut him down. How is this so hard? Why is this so hard?! he thought, and he wanted to ask her that, but he knew that she wouldn’t have an answer. Yes, of course he could wait, but he didn’t want to. Waiting itself may kill him, and he hated himself for not being able to trust her 100% when she spoke the words “I love you”. Those words were supposed to mean something, not just be thrown around in desperate times. Toshio felt as if the roles had switched; after all this time, now Toshio was the one clinging to her while she was moving away. Was his presence in her life that bad for her? Was it making her life a mess? He finally turned his head, but he kept his gaze on the mocha-colored laminate floor. ”What should I do…?” he asked her sincerely, truly believing he had no clue for what he should do next, or what their relationship status was as of tonight. He was confused, and he had never been this confused before in his life!
All of a sudden he realized: that was it! That was why he had become a teacher all those years ago. To teach you must fully understand what you are teaching, and you must not be caught off guard or confused by any question that arises pertaining to your subject. He did it because he never wanted to feel confused again. He studied hard so he knew Literature better than Shakespeare himself so that he wouldn’t have to think more than a second about anything involving it. He had been so confused after his and Sachi’s breakup, and he never wanted to feel that way again. Yet, here he sat, in exactly the same position he had been those 17 years ago. Confused.

Sachi couldn’t bare it when he wouldn’t look at her, it hurt her so much but she knew it was for the best. She didn’t think either one of them could cope if they had to meet eyes. “What should I do...?” he asked her.
”Well, what you should probably do is run as far away from me whilst you still can,” she admitted ”But what I want you to do would be to stay with me, to love me, to be a father to my kids” she whispered ”Can you wait for me Toshio? It’s not going to be easy on either of us but please, can you wait?” she asked him carefully reaching out to touch her hand with his, like he was a cornered animal and she didn’t want to make him jump.
”I can’t live without you anymore Toshio. We’ve been apart for so long and now I’ve finally got you back, I don’t want to leave you. I need you Toshio.” she told him honestly. She didn’t think she could ever leave him, not after the last time they were apart. She’d been so unhappy and now he was finally back and she didn’t want to change that.
((Hey Sarah, I was just wondering if you wanted to finish the thread soon, I thought maybe what we could do if have them exchange address or something and them in another thread (maybe a week later or something) and she could turn up at his place having caught Tadahiro cheating or something?))
